Why this requirement exists
Clinical-placement agreements drive student requirements: hospitals hosting rotations impose THEIR clearance standards on every student entering the building. Programs therefore enforce baseline TB screening (often two-step) plus titers before first clinical semester — and re-verification annually.
Worth knowing
Two-step nuance: many programs demand TWO initial skin tests 1–3 weeks apart, or a single IGRA, to exclude past infection before declaring a clean baseline. Budget accordingly.
